Area consumed by wildfire through May 8th in Alberta

Alberta already seeing big wildfires

Over 400 fires have started so far, burning nearly 400,000 hectares (more than 3,900 squared kilometers) of wildland. As of Monday, nearly 90 are still burning and more than 25 classified as “out of control”.

More than 29,000 people have been forced from their homes and evacuation centers and producers have shut-in at least 280,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
